The family shared the story with us weeks later how that quiet act of compassion helped them breathe through all the chaos. It was the self-care reminder needed when they needed it most.

This year, our little lavender farm in California’s Monterey County made a big journey into the halls of major hospitals. We’re excited to share that in 2025, Lavender Creek’s lavender-infused refreshment towels were approved in health systems from Coast to Coast and used to support healthcare teams across organizations with over 115,000 combined employees. From health systems in New York to California, we had the privilege of bringing a moment of calm to the people who care for others. Hospitals looking to improve care, morale, and the overall experience used these simple lavender towels to enhance both patient comfort and staff wellness.

Supporting Employee Wellness Programs

Healthcare professionals are no strangers to stress. Long shifts, emotional moments, and fast-paced environments take a toll on nurses, doctors, and staff. That’s why many hospitals have launched Employee Wellness initiatives to “care for the caregivers” so they can continue caring for patients with compassion. In 2025, Lavender Creek was honored to support several hospitals’ staff well-being programs with our aromatic towels. Here’s what that looked like:

• Scale of Impact: By focusing on staff wellness, our lavender towels indirectly touched a huge number of healthcare workers this year. The hospitals and health systems we partnered with serve well over 115,000 employees in total. 

Why this matters: Burnout and stress in healthcare are at an all-time high. Hospitals are actively seeking ways to show appreciation for staff and improve their mental health. A growing body of evidence supports these efforts. Some hospitals have even created “Code Lavender” rapid-response teams to provide immediate emotional support to staff after traumatic events. The use of lavender is no coincidence: studies have shown that lavender aromatherapy can reduce anxiety, improve mood, and promote relaxation. By integrating calming rituals like a warm lavender towel into daily hospital life, institutions foster a culture that values staff well-being and resilience alongside patient well-being. And ultimately, happy, de-stressed staff translate to better patient care.

Enhancing Patient Comfort and Experience

Beyond employee wellness, 2025 also saw Lavender Creek towels bringing comfort directly to patients and families. We were amazed by the diverse clinical areas finding creative uses for a simple lavender-infused towel to improve the patient experience. Some of the ways hospitals used our towels for patient comfort include:

• Labor & Delivery Departments: The cotton and gentle lavender scent helped soothe anxiety during childbirth and postpartum care. 
• Pediatrics & Child Life: In pediatric hospitals and Child Life departments, our towels became a tool to comfort anxious children and families. 
• Hospice & Palliative Care: At a hospice and home care organization, caregivers incorporated our lavender towels as part of comfort care for patients and their families. 
• Post-Surgery Recovery

All of these use cases share a common theme: humanizing the healthcare experience. Hospitals are busy, often hectic places. By infusing moments of sensory comfort like the sight and smell of lavender, clinicians are caring for the whole person instead of just the symptoms. Initiatives like Code Lavender and even mobile “lavender carts” stocked with aromatherapy items are popping up in hospitals, encouraging staff and patients alike to take a healing “time-out” from stress.
